GILBERT BURNS is ready to step in and replace infected Ronald Souza in this weekend's UFC 249 – despite a 15lbs gulf in weight.

Burns has told UFC chief Dana White he can fill in at short notice.

Brazilian Souza's clash with Uriah Hall was cancelled after Friday's weigh-in when it emerged he had tested positive for Covid-19.

The tournament is being headlined by Tony Ferguson's clash with Justin Gaethje.

It is taking place in the early hours of Sunday in Jacksonville, Florida.
