Gerwyn Price silenced a raucous home crowd on Sunday evening as he beat Dirk van Duijvenbode 11-10 in Amsterdam in a thrilling encounter.

The Iceman lived up to his nickname as he kept his cool throughout the clash to claim the World Series of Darts. But after checking out one to move to 9-8, Price unleashed a 'death stare' at a member of the crowd.

As Price collected his darts from the board, he didn't break eye contact with the fan from the oche. The Welshman had won it the hard way, only dispatching Van Duijvenbode in a deciding leg at the AFAS Live.

Price said after his win: “I'm not there yet, but I'm heading in the right direction and there are more big tournaments coming up. I knew it was going to be a tough battle with the crowd supporting Dirk, but I dug in right to the ned and scraped over the line.”

While Van Duijvenbode admitted he'd let himself get swept away in the occasion.

He said: “I'm getting closer, but I was disappointed with the way I played in the deciding leg and Gezzy showed his class. I needed to compose myself better than I did.”

It's the second time that the 37-year-old has taken the title – after claiming his maiden win during the 2020 edition.

That season, Price had overcome Rob Cross 11-9 in the final at the Salzburgarena in Salzburg, Austria.
