DEAN HENDERSON'S howler has sent England crashing out of the European Under-21 championships.

The Three Lions, full of Premier League experience only have themselves to blame for missing a host of chances to win the game.

Goals from George Puscas, Ianis Hagi and a Florinel Coman double condemned Aidy Boothroyd's side to early elimination in Cesena.

England's early exit will be confirmed if France avoid defeat against Croatia in Group C.

Demarai Gray and Tammy Abraham both canceled out Romanian lead's in the second half.

But Henderson's error allowing Coman's tame shot to creep through him gave the Young Lions a mountain to climb late on.

And even after falling behind for the third time, Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Abraham missed sitters to keep their campaign alive.

It was the Romanian's full of confidence after beating Croatia who made the brighter start.

Everton defender Jonjoe Kenny fell asleep to allow Andrei Ivan in, but his close-range effort crashed against the post.

James Maddison nearly opened the scoring but his excellent free-kick just went the wrong side of the post.

Mason Mount in for Phil Foden should have done better just before the break after dancing into the box, but his shot went wide.

Foden was introduced on the hour and the Stockport Iniesta instantly made a difference with his drive from deeper positions to bamboozle the Romanian defence.

And in a crazy final 15 minutes, England went behind after Kenny was outwitted by Coman with a clever piece of skill to concede a penalty colly converted by Puscas.

Within minutes it was level when Gray cut in from eh left to curl home a brilliant effort to give England hope in a game they had to win.

Poor defending is England's downfall again as Fikayo Tomori's poor clearance went straight to the impressive Hagi whose shot rifled past Henderson.

Abraham was sent on and made an immediate impact leveling on 86 minutes with a clever turn and finish across keeper Andrei Radu

And two minutes later the moment Hender will want to forget.

After enhancing his reputation with a string of excellent saves against France, the Manchester United keeper let a tame Coman shot agonisingly slip through his fingers.

Boothroyd watched on in despair and had his head in his hands again in stoppage time when Abrahams went close twice.

Maddison sent him clear but his first his shot was saved by Radu before the striker puts a header on the crossbar when it was easier to score.

England's nightmare was complete when Coman bagged his second to make it four with a stunning long-range strike.

And with the young top-flight talent like Foden, Maddison, Wan-Bissaka and Calvert-Lewin at his disposal, Boothroyd will be under huge pressure from the FA to explain this disastrous Group C showing.
