Hampshire remain on course to defend the Royal London One-Day Cup title after securing a showdown with Somerset in the final.

James Vince’s side sealed a return to Lord’s after beating Lancashire by four wickets at the Ageas Bowl, with Somerset thumping 2017 champions Nottinghamshire by 115 runs at Trent Bridge.

Hampshire and Somerset – who are in their first Lord’s final since 2011 – will now lock horns on Saturday, May 25, live on Sky Sports Cricket.

Gareth Berg and Rilee Rossouw played key roles as Hampshire defeated Kent in last year’s final – Berg taking two wickets and impacting a run-out after Rossouw had struck 125 from 114 deliveries.

Both men were instrumental against Lancashire on Sunday, too, with Berg taking a a career-best 5-26 as the visitors were bowled out for 241 and Rossouw then scoring 85.

Saqib Mahmood had reduced Hampshire to 23-3 on the same pitch used for Saturday’s run-fest between England and Pakistan, in which 373-3 played 361-7.

Berg picked up the last four wickets as Lancashire lost their final five batsmen for 10 runs to be bowled out in 47.4 overs, having been handily placed on 129-2 in the 23rd with Keaton Jennings (63) and Jake Lehmann (62) at the crease.

The 38-year-old was backed up by spinners Mason Crane (3-42) and England World Cup hopeful Liam Dawson (1-49) – Crane bowling Jennings round his legs after the opener had passed fifty for the fifth time this term.

Hampshire’s bid for back-to-back finals looked in peril as Mahmood knocked over Tom Alsop (0), Aneurin Donald (3) and Sam Northeast (1) to take his tally of wickets to a tournament-leading 28.

But Vince (79) and Rossouw rallied Hampshire with a fourth-wicket stand of 122 and when the former was run out, Rossouw found support from Dawson (28).

Mahmood was denied a 29th scalp of the competition when Matt Parkinson dropped Dawson and, although Parkinson atoned by having the same batsman caught by Jennings and Liam Livingstone bowled Rossouw, Berg (18no) and James Fuller (20no) steered Hampshire home.

A sight no England or Lancashire fan wants to see… ?

Jimmy Anderson downed as James Fuller drives the ball straight back at him at pace.

Fuller hit four boundaries and also pained James Anderson when he crashed a full-blooded drive back into the England seamer’s knee, forcing Anderson to drop to the floor and then hobble off after treatment.

Somerset ensured the Lord’s final will be an all-South affair after skittling Notts for 222.

Notts were set 338 to win and reached 110-1 thanks to Ben Slater (58) and Alex Hales (54) but then slumped to be rolled in 38.2 overs, with Somerset spinner Roelof van der Merwe taking 3-29.

Somerset had also faded in the middle of their innings after half-centuries from Tom Banton (59), Azhar Ali (72) and Peter Trego (73), slipping from 183-1 to 289-8 as Jake Ball claimed four wickets.

However, the Overton twins took Somerset past 300, with Jamie striking 27 from 18 balls and Craig 20 not out from 12 deliveries before the away side were dismissed in precisely 50 overs.
