FRANK LAMPARD has Ashley Cole's backing to bring through the next generation of Chelsea stars.

Joining the club under a FIFA transfer ban, the new manager will have to work with what he's got at Stamford Bridge.

And already Lampard has vowed that everybody is starting with a clean slate while taking the squad on pre-season camps in Ireland and Japan.

Cole flew out to watch the Blues face Kawasaki Frontale on Friday which they surprisingly lost 1-0 and discussed what his old teammate brings to the role.

The 38-year-old said: “It's nice, he did a great job at Derby, he's back here now.

"He can bring back that feeling of what it means to put on a Chelsea shirt.

“Hopefully a few more youngsters come through the ranks, they've got the quality there and it's brilliant for fans to see young players come through.

“It's important you integrate people like Jody Morris, he knows the club and the kids.

“Hopefully these guys blossom this year, they've done well and certain players did very well last year so hopefully they get a chance to show it.”

Having combined his Derby backroom team with the existing staff at Chelsea, Lampard will not be bringing Cole back to West London.

Instead, the retired England international is to complete his coaching badges at the club.
