BARCELONA look set to re-live their Bayern Munich nightmare in the last-16 of this season's Champions League.

Quique Setien was sacked and Lionel Messi's future at the Nou Camp was thrown up in the air in August thanks to the German side.

Reigning champions Bayern thumped Barca 8-2 in the quarter-final of last season's competition, in a one-legged tie.

Setien was promptly given the boot, Messi threatened to quit, president Josep Maria Bartomeu resigned and the club have been in turmoil ever since.

Barcelona sit ninth in LaLiga this season after a horror start to 2020-21 and ended up second in Champions League Group G after falling to pieces in a 3-0 loss to Juventus in the round of games.

And according to the numbers, the Spaniards are most-likely to be drawn with Bayern Munich in the last-16.

BayernForum.com have used a series of mathematical formulae to determine the most-probable outcomes of next week's draw.

And Barcelona have a 22.235 per cent chance of being drawn with Bayern – the highest of their six possible opponents.

The Spaniards' second-most-likely last-16 opponent is Borussia Dortmund at21.551 per cent.

Chelsea, Liverpool and Man City all have a chance of around 14 per cent of drawing Barcelona.

Manchester United crashed out of the Champions League after losing 3-2 to RB Leipzig, slipping into the second-tier of European football.

But England still have three Champions League hopefuls – and ALL of them are most-likely to draw Borussia Monchengladbach.

According to the numbers, compiled by Mark Cilia Vincenti at BayernForum, each Premier League side has roughly an 18 per cent chance of being drawn with the German side.

The PL trio also sit around the 16 per cent mark when it comes to a potential clash with RB Leipzig.

All three can also face Lazio in the last-16, with all but City able to face Porto, all but Liverpool able to draw Atalanta and all but Chelsea having the potential to be paired with Sevilla.

Of ALL potential ties, Real Madrid vs RB Leipzig is the most-likely, with the maths suggesting there is a 30.471 per cent chance.

The rate is so much higher as Los Blancos are not allowed to face other Spanish teams in the last-16.

With Sevilla and Atletico Madrid both finishing second in their groups, Real have just four potential opponents, compared to English clubs' seven.

Meanwhile, SunSport have performed our own mock draw – with Chelsea being paired with Barcelona.

Liverpool drew Leipzig and Man City were paired with Sevilla in a tough round of fixtures for Premier League clubs in the simulation.
