ARSENAL have reportedly made "tentative enquiries" to Leicester over manager Brendan Rodgers.

The Gunners admire the Northern Irishman and he is in their thoughts as they seek to appoint Unai Emery's successor at the Emirates.

And Rodgers himself confirmed after his side's late 2-1 victory over Everton yesterday that he does have an exit clause in his Leicester contract.

But while Rodgers is on Arsenal's radar – The Athletic claim that Gunners chiefs have been told in no uncertain terms that the Foxes manager is "happy and going nowhere."

The 46-year-old is thought to be keen on working at a top six club again, having lead Liverpool between 2012 and 2015.

And he has previous in ditching a club mid-season – having left Celtic for Leicester back in February.

After that win over Everton, he said: "Listen, there are probably clauses in most managers' contracts.

"It's all hypothetical. We got a brilliant win. We came back very well.

"I made a change eight, nine months ago. I feel so happy. We still have a lot of work to do.

"I've been very fortunate to work with some brilliant clubs and great institutions. The ambition was to help the club to arrive in the top six."

With Brendan Rodgers expected to cost in the region of £14million, Arsenal's initial focus is believed to be on securing managers that are out of work.

Massimiliano Allegri is a contender for the position.

He was considered back in 2018, but interviewed poorly – with the club concerned about his lack of English.
