MANCHESTER UNITED won't be in action until at least May after the Premier League extended the coronavirus ban.

Despite the lack of action on the pitch, there's still a flurry of activity off it as Paul Pogba is set to leave Old Trafford this summer, with Jack Grealish lined up to replace him.

Meanwhile, Eric Cantona could be set for a surprise return to the club as an ambassador and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has paid tribute to Peter Whittingham.

  • STRIKE OR YOUR OUT

Chelsea have reportedly joined Manchester United in the race to snare Arsenal contract rebel Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang away from the Emirates.

SunSport exclusively revealed on Thursday how the Red Devils are eyeing up a £50million swoop for the Gabon international as he nears the end of his contract in North London.

And after selling Olivier Giroud to the Blues that same month, it has been reported that Chelsea are set to raid Arsenal once again.

According to 90min, the West London outfit are one of a number of teams looking to nab Aubameyang, with Frank Lampard known to want to bring in a new centre-forward.

Lampard wants a striker to compete with Tammy Abraham up top, while the futures of Giroud and Michy Batshuayi remain unclear.

  • MIK OF TIME

John Obi Mikel quit Trabzonspor after a ‘threat’ from the Turkish club.

The ex-Chelsea midfielder – who was very briefly a United player – ripped up his contract and fled back to the UK to be with his family during the coronavirus while Turkish Super Lig games continued to be played.

Speaking to the Athletic, Mikel said: “They were really upset about the whole thing.

“I was told to meet with the president in his office one-on-one.

“He asked me to take it down (the post). I told him I wasn’t going to do that. It’s my opinion. This is how I feel.

“We live in a free world. I have freedom of speech. I can express my opinion.”

  • OLE'S TRIBUTE

United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has paid tribute to his former Cardiff City player Peter Whittingham.

Whittingham – who played under the Norwegian for the Bluebirds in the Premier League in 2014 – tragically passed away at just 35 years old after suffering a head injury.

Solskjaer told United's website: “I was deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Peter Whittingham.

“Peter was a fantastic footballer and an incredible human being. I thoroughly enjoyed working with him during my time at Cardiff City.

“It’s hard to believe that he has been taken from us at such a young age. Peter will be deeply missed and our thoughts are with his family at this very sad time.”

  • BARNES CONTINUED

“…If all players wanted to leave their club to win a trophy, all the players would go to Barcelona, Real Madrid, Manchester City or a Liverpool, and you’ll never have anyone playing anywhere else.

“You know you’re a Tottenham fan, you want to play for Tottenham so stay at Tottenham to try and help them win.

“Very similar with Bryan Robson at Manchester United. United and England captain at the time, whilst United were not doing well, he could have easily left.

“He thought I’m going to stay at Manchester United and help them to win.”

  • KANE SHOULD STAY

Harry Kane has been urged to stay at Tottenham and help them win trophies by football legend John Barnes.

The striker is sure to be linked with a host of Europe’s biggest clubs in the summer, with United believed to be long-term admirers.

The likes of Real Madrid and even soon-to-deposed Premier League champs Manchester City would also throw their hat into the ring.

And with Spurs set for another trophy-less season, interest in the England captain is sure to heat up.

Speaking to to BonusCodeBets.co.uk, the 56-year-old said: “Harry Kane should not look to leave Tottenham if he loves Spurs and is a fan of the club…
