Who should I bet on in the race?

Templegate – PINATUBO can bounce back from his 2,000 Guineas disappointment — if that’s what you can call a decent third in a Classic. He blitzed everyone as a two-year-old with six wins on the spin, including in the Chesham Stakes at Royal Ascot and a couple of Group 1s. He looked in need of his comeback in the Guineas and, at one point, cruised into contention before the finishing kick didn’t quite arrive. He will be spot on for fitness now.

Matt Chapman – I'm keeping the faith with PINATUBO, who was far from disgraced just behind Wichita when both were placed in the 2000 Guineas won by Kameko. James Doyle tells me Pinatubo has improved masses since then and I think he will bounce back for Appleby and Buick.

Trends – The trends leave the big two in the betting with WICHITA having already finished ahead of Pinatubo in the 2,000 Guineas at Newmarket. He can repeat the feat.
