But Spurs did not have it all of their own way, holding on for a 3-2 victory.

  • TIM SHERWOOD has been blasted for daring to criticise Jose Mourinho.

    The former Spurs boss was critical of The Special One for haling off Eric Dier after just 19 minutes against Olympiakos.

    Eladio Parames, who has known Mourinho since he was a child and advised him throughout his career, used his column in Portuguese sports paper Record to fire back.

    He said: “The pathetic statements of some commentators are very annoying to me.

    “And they annoy me even more when they are spoken by people who, due to their sporting past, should have the good sense not to say such nonsense, especially in the media that reaches millions of people.

  • TOTTENHAM are eyeing a swoop for former Manchester United flop Memphis Depay.

    Depay has since been rejuvenated at Lyon, notching 12 goals and 16 assists last season and beginning this campaign netting 11 times already.

    The Dutchman’s scoring form has attracted attention from European champions Liverpool and Spurs, Calciomercato report.

    But once Mourinho knew the Tottenham job was in play, he was happy to stall on other options.
