We haven’t seen much of Lauren Conrad on the small screen since she was featured regularly in The Hills. However, now that the reboot, The Hills: New Beginnings, has launched minus her role in the current series, her name is popping up in the headlines.

In association with comments made by current and former castmates of the show, the majority of these celebrities are happy Conrad isn’t appearing in the sequel.

Stars from the newer show are mostly sharing how excited they are for Lauren Conrad, who is now happily married to William Tell with a son named Liam. The couple also recently announced on Instagram Conrad is expecting their second child.

While many know of Lauren from her work in other successful series like Laguna Beach: The Real Orange County, few are aware of her husband’s background.

The romantic backstory

In what would make for an excellent Hollywood romantic-comedy in itself, the pairing of these two is straight out of a fairytale. Lauren revealed in her blog the couple’s first encounter was when Conrad was just 16-years-old and Tell was playing in a band called Something Corporate.

Attending one of William’s performances, Conrad revealed sparks weren’t exactly flying between the two and they didn’t reconnect until many years later. After being set up on a blind date, they quickly fell in love and married in 2014. The couple would later celebrate their son’s first birthday in 2018 and the rest, as they say, is history.

More to Tell than meets the eye

At first glance and from their initial meeting, one may believe Lauren married a musician, and while this is mostly true, it’s only a small part of Tell’s tale.

As far as William’s music career is concerned, you can listen to his single “Just For You” on the Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants soundtrack. His solo album You Can Hold Me Down was released in 2007 after playing with his “corporate” alt-rock Orange County band back in 2001.

According to his iTunes biography, William’s father is the one who taught and encouraged his son to play guitar. It was also his dad who gave his offspring his unusual name.

One might assume he was named after the fabled archer from the middle ages. However, given his father’s musical background, the musician’s name is an obvious nod to “The William Tell Overture” (aka the theme from The Lone Ranger).

Way weirder father-and-son moment

Being named after a legendary folk hero is still a pretty good gig. For trivia buffs, the archer’s claim to fame of shooting an apple off the head of his son at 120 paces was not simply him showing off his marksmanship skills. Instead, the original William Tell was ordered to perform the almost unspeakable act under penalty of death after he refused to remove his hat to acknowledge (actually kiss up to) the local Ballif.

Standing on common ground

Today, the young couple may not seem to have much in common on the outside, but they’re both Southern California born and bred. Since the pair have both witnessed similar viewpoints underneath the spotlight, they’re able to share their unique perspectives away from the stage and off the screen. Lauren Conrad told People:

It’s the first time I’m with someone and I’m not explaining things. He also has experience in the entertainment industry, so he understands a lot of things that people don’t always get.”

For fans of this reality star, her real-life marriage and family are panning out as another one of these celebrity’s many successes.
