Hot on the heels of his dramatic Eastenders exit, Mick Carter actor Danny Dyer has hit the headlines in recent days as fans struggle to come to terms with his departure after nine nail biting years on our screens.
The London born hardman was last seen on the BBC soap swimming out into English Channel leaving fans with some serious questions about whether he would ever one day make a return.
With his soap days now seemingly behind him, several fans have been curious about Danny’s personal life and in particular his wife Joanne, who has been his childhood sweetheart since they first met at the tender age of 14.
So who exactly is Joanne Mas and what is her relationship with Danny like?
Who is Joanne Mas?
Joanne is the wife and childhood sweetheart of Eastenders actor Danny Dyer, and the mother of Love Island stunner Dani Dyer.
Having met over 20 years ago while still at school together, the couple first hit it off at the tender age of 14 before later embarking on a relationship together.
Prior to Danny getting his big break on the acting scene, Jo was the primary breadwinner for the family thanks to her number crunching prowess as a financial adviser.
Despite being together for over two decades, it was actually Jo that popped the question to her beau on Valentine’s Day 2015, with the couple later tying the knot one year later in September 2016 at an intimate Hampshire ceremony.
In 2020 the couple also renewed their vows together, with Joanne even revealing to The Sun, that the exclusive and intimate moment would be strictly off limits to Danny’s showbiz pals, with only their nearest and dearest welcome to share in their special moment.
"We won’t be inviting any celebs – it will just be my mum, my dad, the kids and my best friends who stuck by me through everything,” Jo told the publication at the time.
Do the couple have any children?
Danny and Jo have three children together, including Survival of the Fittest and Love Island Winner Dani, 26, Sunnie, 15, and Arty, 9.
The couple also have one grandchild, following the birth of Dani’s son, Santiago in 2021.
Have the couple always been faithful?
Despite enjoying a long-running relationship together, Danny previously admitted that he had strayed in the past, with the couple briefly splitting during the early years of daughter Dani's life.
Electing to see other people during their time apart, Danny later revealed to The Sunday Times magazine that he had an affair with Joanne while he was seeing other people, and the pair decided to rekindle their romance.
He said: "I missed them both and decided I’d do everything in my power to get them back."
Danny continued: "I don’t know if Joanne saw how much I missed them, but the visits started getting longer and we’d sit down with a cup of tea."
"Next minute… we’re having an affair. I said: 'F*** this! We’re sneaking around like schoolkids. We’ve got a beautiful girl. Let’s give it a go."
It was also later widely reported that Danny had engaged in a six week long affair with Girls Aloud singer, Sarah Harding back in 2012, while Sarah and Danny were appearing on the set of Run For Your Wife.
Believing Danny to be single, Sarah allowed him to seduce her, with the singer soon left heartbroken after realising the truth.
Eventually the reality came to light, this time in the summer of 2017 and Danny left the family home in the wake of his alleged infidelity to move into a London bachelor pad.
Ever a doting dad, the couple continued to put on a united front for the sake of daughter Dani in the meantime.
After just a few short months apart, the couple realised however, that they couldn’t live without each other, and later went on to reconcile, before finally moving back in together in November 2017.
Where do they live now?
Despite being London born and bred, Danny and Jo now live a quiet family life in Debden, Essex.
The property, which is located in the Epping Forest parish is kitted out with the latest technology and even boasts a cinema room, gym – and an igloo, according to the Mirror.
Fans of the Dyers often get a glimpse into Danny's lavish home through social media and his appearances on Celebrity Gogglebox with his daughter Dani.
