Tori Spelling is a Beverly Hills icon having starred on the hit TV show Beverly Hills, 90210 as Donna Martin. As rumors swirled that Spelling was being considered to join The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, the fit only seemed natural and a full-circle moment. However, despite fans being hopeful that this would be true, all dreams came to a screeching halt when it was shut down that Spelling was joining the Bravo reality series.
Where did the Tori Spelling rumor come from?
Spelling is no stranger to Beverly Hills or reality shows. It seemed like a natural match to have the actress be one of the new stars of RHOBH Season 11. As the latter started filming the new season, Spelling’s name was thrown out there in the mix.
The rumor was that Spelling would guest star as a “friend of” the housewives. It was also said that Spelling’s mother would be featured and the drama would revolve around their contentious relationship.
“Tori Spelling is doing [RHOBH] with her mom, Candy,” an insider told Celeb Magazine. “People who have followed Tori know her relationship with her mom has been contentious for many years. Kathy Hilton – Kyle Richards‘ and Kim Richards‘ sister- is also expected to join, and she has some issues with Candy as well. Tori is expected to join in a similar vein to Kathy – specifically as a friend of the Housewives. Tori is also expected to come on as Kyle’s friend.”
If the rumor was too good to be true, that’s because it was.
The rumor is debunked
As fans speculated about how Spelling would mix in with the RHOBH cast, Brice Sander came in to crush everyone’s hopes. The Chief Real Housewives Correspondent for Entertainment Tonight tweeted a message denying that Spelling was set to join the show.
“Because I keep seeing account after account post: Tori Spelling is NOT joining RHOBH, crushing all of our dreams of her visiting the hibachi grill where the fall happened with Dorit,” Sander tweeted.
The show had been recurring to hiring established actresses like Lisa Rinna, Eileen Davidson, Denise Richards, and most recently Garcelle Beauvais. It seemingly looks like Bravo is steering casting in another direction.
“I think they’re going to take a break from actresses-as-housewives for a bit,” Sander replied to a fan. “The other casting rumors seem to be a return to the original theme, un-famous women with money.”
Sander also confirmed that “there will definitely be new cast members” for the new season.
Brandi Glanville is not returning
One former housewife that was in the middle of the biggest storyline in season 10 was Brandi Glanville. The reality star held a diamond from season 3 through season 5 and has made guest appearances since. Despite being at the center of the alleged hookup with Denise Richards, she has not received a call from the cable network to return next season.
“Haven’t heard from them, also don’t have a desire to reach out. If they want to be proper, they know how to find me but thank you so much,” Glanville replied to a fan on Instagram.
Bravo has not officially confirmed which housewives will be returning but Beauvais has shared she will be back for RHOBH Season 11.
