Some are taking their old-school Barbie items and giving them a modern twist. One person even created a heart bag using a 90s Barbie pillowcase.

And Academy Award-winning costume designer Jacqueline Durran, who dressed Robbie for the movie, has given her seal of approval to the wave of Barbiecore looks.

‘It’s been surreal to see how popular the Barbiecore trend has become,’ Jacqueline told InStyle.

‘It’s been a while since ultra-feminine silhouette and color palettes have been widely celebrated, so I think the Barbie aesthetic entered the zeitgeist at just the right time — when people were ready for something bright, light, nostalgic, and fun.’

Fashion lovers aren’t the only ones hyping up the premiere. Brands are using the huge movie moment to their marketing advantage.

Brands such as Aldo, Zara, Crocs, Boohoo, Gap, and Pacsun have dropped their Barbie collections and collaborations.

On Aldo’s website, the brand states: ‘Fun, fearless and born to lead, Barbie empowered us from the start.

To add to the lengthy fashion dilemma, the release of the Christopher Nolan movie Oppenheimer, starring Cillian Murphy, comes out the same day as Barbie. TikTok creator Allie (pictured) wrote that seeing both movies will feature ‘the outfit change of the century’

Some multifaceted TikTok creators, like Fraz, will switch from all-pink to all-black outfits when seeing the two movies back-to-back

Others are arguing that Oppenheimer should be seen before Barbie and are doing the opposite switch from all black to all pink instead such as Tess Donatello (pictured)

Meanwhile creator BarbenHeimer2 blends both Barbie and Oppenheimer aesthetics to bring together Barbenheimer – the name given to the cinematic crossover

‘Our original fashion icon inspired this playful limited-edition collection of footwear, handbags and accessories in just our size – and built for playing in real life.’

Other non-clothing brands include NYX cosmetics, Kitsch hair accessories, O.P.I. nail polish, and Kendra Scott’s jewelry.

To add to the fashion dilemma of what to wear, the release of Christopher Nolan’s movie Oppenheimer, starring Cillian Murphy, comes out the same day as Barbie.

The film is based on the true story of physicist Julius Robert Oppenheimer who was behind the creation of the atomic bomb during World War II.

Some multifaceted TikTok creators have joked that they are having ‘the outfit change of the century’ in movie theaters as they switch from all-pink to all-black outfits.

This cinematic crossover has been dubbed Barbenheimer.
