Shakira has revealed her father is in the hospital amid news of her surprise split from partner, Gerard Piqué.

On Saturday, the singer, 45, shared on social media that her father, William Mebarak Chadid, suffered a “bad fall.”

“Guys, I’m getting a lot of messages of concern that I was seen in an ambulance in Barcelona recently,” the “Hips Don’t Lie” singer began.

“I just wanted to let you know that those photos are from last weekend (the 28th), when my dad unfortunately had a bad fall and I accompanied him in an ambulance to the hospital where he is recovering now,” she continued.

She also included a photo of herself gently kissing her father’s badly bruised face.

Earlier the Colombian-born singer shocked her fans by confirming that she and Spanish soccer player Gerard Piqué, have split.

“We regret to confirm that we are separating,” the two said in a statement released by Shakira’s public relations firm. “For the well-being of our children, who are our highest priority, we ask that you respect our privacy. Thank you for your understanding.”

Shakira, 45, met the professional athlete, 35, on the set of her music video for “Waka Waka (This Time for Africa),” which served as the official song of the 2010 FIFA World Cup.

The couple shares two sons, Milan, 9, and Sasha, 7.

The confirmation comes on the heels of the Spanish news outlet El Periodico reporting that Piqué, who plays center-back for La Liga club Barcelona has moved out of their family home.

Things appeared to be smooth between the couple last February when the pop star shared a photo of the couple to celebrate Valentine’s Day.
