Queen Letizia of Spain put on a positive display as she arrived at a meeting with The Federation Against Drug Addiction (FAD) Juventud Board in Madrid today.

Letizia’s cheerful expressions beatrayed no hint of turmoil after a difficult few weeks for the Spanish royal family, due to claims made by her former brother-in-law in a bombshell book.

The Spanish Royal Family have been rocked by shock claims from Jaime Del Burgo, who says that he had a relationship with Letizia, 51, before and after her marriage to King Felipe. He went on to marry her sister, Telma.

Nevertheless, Letizia followed a business-as-usual approach today and was all smiles as she arrived to meet with board members of FAD, an association that Letizia is an honorary president for.

The mother-of-two donned a sophisticated double breasted black wool coat for the occasion, with statement gold buttons.

Letizia opted for a monochrome ensemble for the meeting, and she donned a silk black blouse with a belted mid-length tulle skirt in white.

The royal accessorised the look with a classic pair of pearl drop earrings and chic black leather bag.

Letizia opted for a simple makeup look for the occasion, complete with her signature hazel eyeliner.

The wife of Felipe VI presided over the FAD’s Board of Trustees meeting. She has been the honorary president of the institution since 2015, after taking over from her mother-in-law Queen Sofia.

This morning, after the meeting, she posed for a picture with several officials from the FAD and smiled with some of the guests in attendance.

The FAD’s main mission is to prevent drug use and other risk behaviours that prevent or hinder the development of teenagers, whether personal or social.

It’s been an eventful month for the Spanish royal family, as Queen Letizia has faced explosive claims that she was dating the ex-husband of her sister, Telma Ortiz, while involved with King Felipe VI.

Ortiz’s former husband Jaime Del Burgo, 53, currently based in the UK, recently contributed to a tell-all book about the 51-year-old Spanish royal, in which he makes the far-fetched claim that he and Letizia were still romantically involved after her 2004 wedding to Felipe.

The entrepreneur – who claims he was dating Letizia when she first met the heir to the Spanish throne – also shared a selfie the Queen took in a mirror during one of her pregnancies as ‘evidence’ of their relationship on X, formerly known as Twitter, last night.

In the selfie, the royal can be seen wearing a black pashmina – which Jaime claims belonged to him – and he also typed out a message, supposedly sent to him by the Spanish Queen.

It read: ‘Love. I wear your pashmina. It’s like feeling you by my side. It takes care of me.

After sharing the image, other X users questioned the validity of Jaime’s claims – given there is no evidence that Letizia sent him the photo or accompanying message. The businessman has since deleted his X account.

A spokesperson for the Spanish royals told FEMAIL: ‘We have no comment to make about this.’

Despite the outlandish claims, the royal couple attended a meeting in Madrid recently, where they appeared deep in conversation at times, but also in good spirits while meeting some of the other attendees.

They included Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez and German professor Dieter Ingenschayv, the recipient of the meeting’s award.

Despite the stressful situation, Queen Letizia looked as stylish and put together as ever, donning a chic, red trouser suit.

The suit featured a long, two-breasted jacket featuring large buttons. The jacket was paired with wide-legged trousers.
