Three years ago we split up because my wife was drunk when she picked our daughter up from nursery at lunchtime.

She wasn’t driving, thank goodness, but I knew then it was a real problem.

I insisted she got help, so she moved back in with her parents. They also helped me out with childcare while I worked.

We then went into lockdown so things were easier and my wife and I began talking again.

We’ve started taking baby steps towards getting back together.

She has really cut down on drinking, until last weekend.

We had a barbecue and she started boozing.
