Meghan Markle is reported to be tiptoeing back into the world of influencing by bringing back her old lifestyle blog The Tig, named after her favourite wine.
According to The Mirror, Meghan filed with the US Trademark and Patent Office to relaunch the site, which was closed down in 2017, after Prince Harry proposed.
Back then, Meghan wrote about anything and everything wellness, from the books she was reading to travel guides of her favourite places.
But what should we expect from a potential relaunch of The Tig?
Will it be more of the same – another site to rival Gwyneth Paltrow’s Goop? Or will it be something completely different?
According to The Mirror, details in the papers Meghan filed with the Trademark and Patent Office suggest the Duchess will offer advice through a kind of agony aunt column.
But, if her podcast Archetypes can give us any clues, we’re likely to see some cultural and social commentary alongside the usual bits on self-discovery, love and romance and cooking inspiration.
On her podcast, which is all about the stereotypes levelled against women, Meghan has spoken to celebrities about things like the myth of the Angry Black woman, the history and ‘plague’ of the B-word, the stigma facing single women and the barriers female activists face.
If that’s anything to go off, it’s highly likely Meghan will call on her long list of celebrity friends to contribute to The Tig, whether that’s by writing their own essays and opinion pieces or partaking in interviews with the Duchess.
And, given her interest in the topic, we can totally see Meghan penning thoughtful essays about women’s rights and modern-day feminism.
But the biggest change we’re likely to see on The Tig 2.0, if it does so happen to make a comeback, is a more mature selection of topics.
Meghan has changed a lot since 2017: she’s been married, had two children and completely changed gears when it comes to her career.
We’re expecting advice and essays regarding life as a wife, motherhood, family relationships, love and work.
And if Prince Harry’s memoir is anything to go off, we’re expecting Meghan’s words to be as frank as they are raw.
However, The Cut reports that Meghan has previously renewed her trademark on the site in the past to prevent false branding – not because she was planning to relaunch it.
But, if the Duchess does choose to relaunch The Tig, it’s likely to accelerate the 2010s blogging renaissance we’re all hoping for.
