Martin Lewis has exposed a neat way to get a free £175 just by switching over to a certain bank account.

The Money Saving Expert founder told ITV's Good Morning Britain that as long as you have a take-home pay of £1250 each month you could be in the money.

He said: “Natwest and RBS are giving you a free £175 if you switch to their bank accounts.

“My top pick there would be the reward account. You pay a £2 monthly fee and you get £5 back so you’re £3 a month up.

“You get £175 for switching although for that you have to pay in £1250 each month so your salary is a minimum of £1250 going in each month and you have to switch to it.

“To get it the initial thing you have to have £1500 going in – if you don’t want to pay in each month go for a select account which just gives you cash, HSBC gives you similar.”

The money guru also reminded people that March offers a unique money-saving opportunity for people aged over 55.

He said: “March as always is free wills month if you’re over 55. Solicitor-drafted wills normally cost you £200 for a single, £300 for a joint.
