One dachshund, named Dusty, has had people in stitches after demanding her owner make her something far better than ‘rubbish’ kibble. According to her owner, Dusty thinks she’s ‘Queen of the house’, and frankly, kibble with carrots and peas simply isn’t good enough.
In a TikTok video, the sausage dog pushes her bowl away with her nose while owner, Chloe Booth shares what the pup is ‘thinking’.
The voiceover said: “Nope, get it away from me. I don’t want that brown ****. I’ve seen what you’re having for tea and you offer me this? How dare you, it’s an insult.”
And 23-year-old Chloe, said it’s not unusual for Dusty ‑ who recently gave birth to six puppies – to be so fussy when it comes to food.
She said: “It is common for Dusty to act like that as she thinks she’s the Queen of the house and if she acts like that I’ll give her scrambled eggs, boiled chicken or fish specially made for her. I think she likes to think I’ll share my tea with her as well.
“When she doesn’t want her food she often pushes the bowl over to tell me she doesn’t want it and push it away! But she’s been extra sassy since having a litter of her own.
“She’s being extra demanding and thinks that she can have whatever she wants, as when they’re nursing it’s important for them to eat enough. So I think she’s been playing it to her advantage at the minute.”
Chloe is currently studying a canine care behaviour and welfare level 3 diploma whilst caring for half-sister daxies Dusty and Dolly.
She got the duo in 2019 after initially thinking she would be getting one dog, but fell in love with two.
She said: “I got them at the same time as I ended up falling in love. They have different mums but the same dad, and were born days apart by the same breeder.
“Dolly and Dusty are like chalk and cheese, Dolly is quiet and laid back and Dusty is like a jack in a box with a lot of attitude! Usually they curl up with each other and can’t be without one another.”
But Dusty isn’t the only dog to make a drama at dinner time. Alfie, a Staffordshire bull terrier, gets a bit ‘hangry’ if his dinner is late.
And to make sure everyone in the house knows about it, he performs a drum solo in his dinner bowl in a bid to get fed faster.
The video, viewed over 144,000 times on TikTok, reads: “Alfie was in full on diva mode tonight. Dinner wasn’t served fast enough and we all knew about it.”
In another clip, golden retriever Mango was put on a ‘diet’ by her owner ‑ and was absolutely furious about it.
Mango’s owner pours a measly cup of food into a big dog bowl, and the golden retriever pauses, clearly expecting more is on the way.
But when she realises her meals have been cut back, she flashes desperate puppy dog eyes at her owner.
