A family-of-four added a whopping £30,000 to the value of their clutter-ridden house after getting rid of 75 per cent of their belongings and getting new furniture and modern fittings.
Kelly and Paul and their children Chloe and Oscar from Stanwell in Surrey, appeared on last night’s Nick Knowles’ Big House Clearout, where a team managed to bump the value of their house by a staggering 11 per cent from £270,000 to £300,00.
The couple had previously been renting a three-bed house with a garden and loft but downsized after achieving their dream of buying their own home.
After moving into a small flat, they were overwhelmed with old furniture and stacks of toys and old cardboard boxes.
The couple contacted Nick Knowles to help their home which the DIY expert described as ‘bursting at the seems’ but after the help from the Channel 5 team’s show the couple were overwhelmed with the new space, with them vowing to never become victims to clutter again.
Viewers were overwhelmed by the transformation too, with one writing: ‘What a absolutely amazing show again tonight. WHAT a transformation by a amazing team in such a short time.’

‘It’s the smallest property we’ve worked on, and they’ve worked in with the most amount of stuff,’ he said.
‘I don’t think I’ve ever seen a home more overcrowded with clutter, and it’s not that they’re hoarders, they’ve just got overwhelmed,’ he added.
Describing the situation, Kelly added: ‘We should it would be a dream owning our home, but it’s more of a nightmare.
‘I’d rather be anywhere other than in the house, it really gets me down’.
Paul added: ‘The kids are being robbed of their childhood, because they’ve got nowhere to play’.
‘It’s been going on for two years, it can’t go on’.

Kelly hated the home’s dated fireplace which she said was filled with junk, and had covered up bedroom windows because she didn’t have black out blinds, meaning she had no natural light.
Elsewhere, the living room was full of empty Lego boxes, which Paul wanted to keep in case they ever sold the Lego.
‘It really upsets me because despite what you see I’d love to be that tidy clean person. It really affects my mental health,’ Kelly explained.
‘I will make you a promise, if you will change your heads and be brutal about dealing with this situation, I guarantee it will change your family dynamic,’ Nick said.

‘This is so different,’ Paul noticed, before pointing out the DIY work was half-finished with many walls not painted.
As a team from the Channel 5 show went to work on the house, Kelly and Paul left to sort through all their belongings.
They were taken to a Warehouse where everything was laid out with Kelly describing it was ‘overwhelming’ and Paul saying he was shocked they were every able to move.

Within the first two hours, the family hadn’t thrown anything away, but after a while Kelly got to work culling her belongings, but Paul struggled to let go, even wanting to keep CDs he admits he never plays.
‘I’m trying to be really brutal,’ said Kelly. ‘I’m getting rid of stuff I never thought I would’.

‘It’s been a bit emotional,’ she added. ‘It’s not been smooth. And admittedly we argued a bit.’
‘We normally do this kind of thing together,’ Paul added.
‘It’s not just a physical thing, psychologically this is so much harder, releasing things. We haven’t had the kids here to remind us what this is for’.
Meanwhile, the team back at their home painted the walls grey and managed to open up the space.
They soon noticed the original tile floor under the carpet of the living which would have cost hundreds to fit.

‘It’s so different, I can’t believe it’s the same place,’ Paul explained.
Speaking of the new fireplace, Kelly added: ‘This is what I dreamed of. I’m speechless, this is too nice for us. I feel like I’m going to ruin it’.
After walking into the kitchen, she went on: ‘This is amazing, I could not dream of this.’
Paul went on: ‘It doesn’t seem real’.
