A body modification superfan who spent £12,000 on transforming himself into a "demon" has got "spider" implants under his skin.

Renato De Santa, 42, began undergoing body mods in 1996 and soon set up his own studio, where he turned his passion into a full-time career.

Some of his personal modifications include having his eyeballs tattooed, splitting his tongue in two and even getting his ears cut into the shape of bats.

The Brazilian has now gone a step further and has had silicone spiders implanted under his skin.

He insists that despite how it sounds, the gruesome surgery wasn't painful in the slightest.

He told NeedToKnow: “I don’t take any medication, so I have to endure the pain – but the procedure was easy.

“We made a centralised incision and spatulated it both ways, as the silicone bars are flexible.

“But with time, the first bar, which was next to the ear, started to move and caused a lot of discomfort, even when doing exercises. I had to remove [this], as it was bothering me a little.”

Previously, Renato revealed that while many people don’t agree with his unique features, it’s actually helped him within his love life.

He said: “[My modifications] don’t interfere negatively in my love life, because I surround myself with people who are adept to my culture.

“Nowadays, there is still prejudice and sometimes I get offensive messages on the internet. But that doesn’t worry me.

“My intention is to free minds and show that we can be who we want, while respecting the space of our fellow men.”
