Soon after graduation, the actor began scouting for potential roles and landed a lead ensemble role in Paul Feig’s debut television show Freaks And Geeks, a Judd Apatow production. Segel portrayed the role of Nick Andopolis, a stoner student in the teen comedy-drama, and received appraisal for his performance. Year after year, working in movies and his commitment to the television series How I Met Your Mother, the actor decided to move away from Hollywood and Los Angeles. As mentioned by E Online, Segel detailed that he shifted to a farm town far off from Los Angeles where nobody recognizes him, and he participates in various activities for the community. While the actor said that he sometimes missed living in the city where he grew up, he feels more at home in the town.

Moving away from Los Angeles did not mean that Segel paused his career. The actor has continued to star in and produce a variety of projects.
