The clue should be in the name – "wood chopping board".
But this particular item from Dunelm left shoppers scratching their heads thanks to some very puzzling accompanying advice.
A picture of the baffling label was posted on Reddit by a confused customer and has since gone viral.
That's because it was one massive and very significant flaw.
The label, with "WOOD CHOPPING BOARD" at the top in nice big capital letters, adds: "Wipe clean only, wipe up spills immediately to avoid staining. Do not soak. Do not use as a chopping board."
Posting the picture to Reddit, the shopper wrote: "A chopping board that's not to be used as a chopping board."
The comments began to roll in as lots of people found the whole thing hilarious.
One person commented: "So it’s just wood. A square of wood. To look at."
Another said: "You can pet it, you can talk to it, you can read to it, you can dance with it – there are so many things you can do with WOOD CHOPPING BOARD! All it asks is that you do not chop!"
A third penned: "This is right up there with those swimsuits that you can’t get wet."
A fourth posted: "You do not chop on the board, you chop with the board."
The post first circulated on Twitter when a woman, Becks, tweeted a picture of the label.
She wrote: "So, Dunelm…what is this piece of wood for then?! @DunelmUK."
A member of Dunelm's team were quick to reply, writing: "Hi Becks, I am very sorry to see you have noticed our error on our chopping board label, please be advised we are aware of this error and this has been raised to our merchandising team."
However, it didn't stop the question, with one Twitter user asking: "Is it a board to sit your actual chopping board on?"
Dunelm didn't exactly set the record straight, replying: "Hi Frank, Thank you for your comments on this product. We are aware of this error which has been sent to the appropriate department for them to investigate this internally."
And the comments didn't stop there as many Twitter users found the whole thing hilarious.
"This is why I have trust issues," one person joked, while another said: "To chop or not to chop. That is the question."
