Supermarket giant Aldi is known for its efficient checkout system.

The store announced a trial for self-service checkout tills in the UK last year.

And now things are getting better for the German retailer as the tills are planning to roll out to four more locations.

According to the Liverpool ECHO, the budget supermarket planned to roll out its self-service tills following a successful trial at its Glascote store in Staffordshire.

An Aldi spokesperson said: “Following positive feedback, we’ve extended our trial of self-service checkouts to four more locations to further improve the customer experience."

One of the self-checkout locations can be found in Manchester’s Arndale.

However, people seem didn't seem too pleased about the new system, with many venting their frustrations on social media.

Writing on the publication's Facebook page, one shopper said: “I wouldn't use them. Pay for staff checkouts a lot of us like a bit of chat with a real person not a machine."

Another added: “Self-service is taking away people's income and will be slower using a machine. No machine can go as fast as a Aldi till operator person."

A third commented: “Well I won't be using them."

However, there has been some positive feedback with many customers loving the idea.

One said: “At last, hate having to queue when you only have a few bits."

Another added: “I think it's a great idea and a way for a bargain superstores to keep the prices even lower six tills one staff member the rest will be busy loading the shelves as they can never keep up. I like hands off service to be honest."
