Chicago-based boutique Notre and SoCal’s Vault by Vans have partnered once more, this time around reworking the Old Skool LX in four colorways that are each indebted to the store’s core motif: a handshake.
The collaboration follows on from 2018’s Vans Vault “5×5 Project” in which Notre delivered a Vans Old Skool covered in green and gray hairy suede. For its 2020 collaborative pack, Notre takes the same shoe and has tinted its hairy suede uppers in off white, black, blue, and red.
Each sport a reworked Jazz Stripe that now combines the signature Notre handshake — much like the one found on its recently-seen Nike Dunk High collaboration — and all are finished with a white sidewall and a tonal rear license plate. Notre’s motto, “There are many ways of doing things besides your own,” appears on the box, too.
Speaking on the collaboration and more, Notre co-founder and co-owner MJ Jaworowski said, “That motto comes from The Whole Earth Catalog, and it’s inspired a lot of what we’ve done as a shop over the past few years, and what we try to stand for: teamwork, learning from one another, staying open-minded… This year has been tough for everyone, obviously, so we felt this would be a good moment to re-introduce our Vans shoe concept, which itself promotes a message of togetherness.”
Notre’s Vault by Vans Old Skool LX pack will be joined by the “Linking Hands” hoodie and a “Many Ways” T-shirt. The entire collection will drop exclusively on Notre’s website on October 31, with the Vans being priced at $90 USD, and the hoodie and T-shirt coming in at $98 USD and $36 USD respectively.
In other news, adidas is reportedly looking to sell Reebok.
