CONOR MCGREGOR has accepted a date to fight his old rival Dustin Poirier.

The Notorious, 32, is training for his octagon return despite retiring for the third time this year.

McGregor, 32, has confirmed he will fight Poirier, 31, before turning his attention to Manny Pacquiao.

When is McGregor vs Poirier?

The Irishman will make his comeback against Poirier on January 23.

He confirmed the date in a tweet, which read: "I accept, Jan 23rd is on.

"My goal is to see the fight take place in Cowboy stadium. Proper Style!

"Jerry Jones is a friend and the stadium can hold our crowd. I will be ready for Texas and Texas will be ready for my fans. Then Manny."

Is it part of the UFC?

McGregor initially challenged the American to a charity exhibition in Ireland for December.

Speaking to Poirier on Twitter, he wrote: "Hey bro! Do you want to do an MMA charity fight? Zero to do with the UFC.

"I will donate half a mill towards your charity for it."

But Dana White stepped in and offered them to battle it out on the January card.

McGregor confirmed it will be part of the UFC after he accepted White's 'take it or leave it' ultimatum.

What is the purse?

Former two-weight champion McGregor is the highest-paid fighter in the UFC.

He banked more than £23million for his first-round knockout win over Donald Cerrone in January.

And he's expected to take home the lion's share of the purse against Poirier – who he beat in 2014.

The purse for the upcoming bout is not yet known – but he has vowed to still donate a chunk of it to charity.

What weight class will it be fought at?

McGregor's showdown with Poirier will be fought at catchweight.

How can I watch it?

There has not been yet been any confirmation over what channel the fight will be shown on.

But as it is a UFC bout, it is likely to be on the BT Sport in the UK.

In the US, fans can expect to tune into ESPN to watch the showdown.
