Los Angeles Clippers forward Paul George is affectionately known as “Pickled Pepper” in China due to the homophonic pronunciation of his name and the spicy garnish, so Nike Basketball has readied a unique PG 4 “Pickled Pepper” for the Chinese market. Piquant in moniker and style, the “Pickled Pepper” offers a scorching color scheme and special details aplenty.

Sheath-like uppers retain a standard dual mesh build — tightly woven on the lateral side, breathable on the medial side — and also serve up a yellow-to-red gradient fade from toebox to heel. A textured yellow Swoosh is placed under the lateral collar, with a small red Swoosh taking up residence on the medial half. Large zippers encase the lacing system and tongue, the latter of which features a playful chili pepper print.

Moving to the heels, the left shoe features Chinese characters while the right supplies George’s signature. Midsoles are done up in white, and feature a full-length Air Strobel cushioning system that places Air technology directly under the wearer’s feet. Two-tone heel tabs, a Scoville-style gradient midsole bar and colorful outsoles round off the look.

The Nike PG 4 “Pickled Pepper” will release via Nike SNKRS China on August 15, and is priced at $110 USD. It’ll also be accompanied by two special “Pickled Pepper Series” T-shirt designs.
