KING Charles' stunning first home has been transformed by a member of the UAE royal family – and now includes a high-tech security gatehouse and two luxury cottages.

Windlesham Moor served as the monarch's first home during the first two years of his life.




While royal properties including Buckingham Palace and Balmoral Castle are well-known to royal fans, the home the Queen rented shortly after her wedding is still a mystery to many.

The Surrey home has a fascinating history, from its regal roots to its current ownership and makeover under Middle Eastern royalty.

Featuring a 58-acre plot, five bedrooms, and a 50-foot drawing room, the residence has undergone several renovations over the years.

Moving in after their marriage in 1947, then-Princess Elizabeth and her new husband Philip rented the royal estate for two years before she took the throne.

Her Majesty gave birth to Charles at Buckingham Palace during that time, and he spent his early years living in the Surrey home with his sister Princess Anne.

One of the home's main features was the nursery, which reportedly comprised of two guest bedrooms joined together to house the royal children.

Some of the most famous snaps of the now-monarch in his formative years were taken at Windlesham Moor.

The estate is currently owned by Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed Rashid Al Maktoum, who was the deputy ruler of Dubai until his death in 2021.

He made significant investments to the home over the years, including two cottages named "Winklands" and "Rose Cottage".

In the wake of the September 11th attacks, the Middle Eastern ruler won planning permission to build a new security building on the estate.

The addition was deemed necessary because his family was at particular risk from attack due to their co-operation in the war on terror.

Alongside the security building, he also invested in vast renovations and extensions of the royal residence.

Al Maktoum's family reportedly only live at Windlesham Moor from July to September, with guests of the Sheikh residing at the home through the rest of the year.

Located just six miles from Windsor Castle, the Middle Eastern royals neighbour The Earl and Countess of Wessex's current home of Bagshot Park.

The home was originally bought in a state of disrepair by a man named Philip Hall in 1942 for £40,000, around £2 million today.

Windlesham Moor was then restored before being rented to the Queen after her wedding.

The family resided in the property until they moved to Clarence House in the summer of 1949, which later served as Charles' official residence until he assumed the throne earlier this year.
