AN INTERIOR expert has shared the list of five homeware buys to not waste your money on – and it's bad news if you like shiny photo frames.

Looking to head to the shops this weekend to snap up some finds for your home? Then best keep reading – there are some items that one whizz, Julie Sousa, advised against forking out for.

According to the guru, who's won almost a whopping 2million followers on the platform, the first major mistake appears when buying photo frames.

Instead of opting for the glossy and sparkly frames, Julie urged to bag a more neutral matt look – this, she noted in her video, will make for an elegant and ''elevated'' aesthetic in your home.

When shopping, Julie also told her fans to steer clear of ''anything with words'', so if you're a fan of the ''Live, Laugh, Love'' signs all over the place, then listen up.

''It leaves nothing to the imagination,'' she chuckled.

The same applies for home décor that looks like anything out of nature, such as wooden mushroom decorations or anything veggie-inspired.

In terms of pillows, there's also a tip, Julie noted – they all need to have zippers.

Without a zip, the inserts are harder to remove to replace or wash when necessary.

Last but certainly not least, the interior guru also urged to be careful when snapping up textured blankets.

Whilst a fluffy blankie might be cosy, especially as the weather gets colder, Julie insisted they tend to look on the cheaper side.

Instead, as an alternative, she advised to invest in one with more texture and ''anything that is knitted''.

After learning her advice, hundreds raced to comments – and it seems that the opinion was divided.

One, for instance, reminded fellow social media users: ''buy what makes u happy y’all [sic].''

Someone else added: ''Wait… I want those mushrooms.''

A pet lover chimed in:''Sure I'll go for knitted. Than [then] my cats will claw at it and it will be ruined it 2 minutes.''

''the textured ones always look old,'' a homeware fanatic penned.
