A BRIDE-TO-BE has been cruelly mocked online for her quirky engagement ring.

The woman's giant sparkler was compared to a "mutant owl" and "a moth with its wings on backwards" when it was posted to Facebook group That's It, I'm Ring Shaming last week.

The uniquely-shaped silver ring is split into three sections, with two triangular points attached at the top and bottom.

A large diamond serves as its centrepiece, while two purple-coloured jewels sit on either side.

When snaps of the piece were shared online, the caption read: "A friend of mine got engaged and posted the ring to Facebook (this is not her hairy knuckle, this is a photo from the jeweler).

"It has some heirloom material in it. Wanted to know what you guys thought of this unique design."

The post sparked quite a reaction from other Facebook users, quickly racking up hundreds of comments.

And unfortunately for the bride-to-be, people weren't particularly kind about her bling.

One group member wrote: "Why am I looking at an alien spacecraft?"

Others said: "Kinda reminds me of an upside down bat for some reason," "Is it a triceratops head? A bug? A butt? A face? I'M SO CONFUSED," and: "Is it… a gargoyle?"

Another joked: "If Voldemort had a wife… this is the ring she would wear."

Quite a few said they were reminded of body parts.

"Vagina, bat, or ovaries?" and: "All I can see is an upside down uterus with ovaries and it's weirding me out," read two messages.

Others added: "Lungs," and: "I thought it was a horse hoof."

As long as the bride-to-be likes it, eh?

Meanwhile, another bizarre engagement ring has been mocked on social media for looking like "festering boils" and "genital warts".

PrettyLittleThing is selling a crochet crop top that doesn't even cover your boobs.

And one bride's VERY poofy lace wedding dress has been cruelly compared to a "toilet roll cover".
