The Charlatans ringleader has announced a book about his popular social media listening parties which attracted the likes of Paul McCartney and Oasis during pandemic.
AceShowbiz –The Charlatans lead singer Tim Burgess is publishing a book based on the popular Twitter listening parties he hosted throughout the COVID-19 crisis.
Burgess’ online pandemic parties, in which guests discussed a particular album, grew so popular, they attracted such music legends as Paul McCartney, Oasis, and Kylie Minogue as experts.
Now “The Only One I Know” singer is taking his parties to the publishing world, announcing on Thursday (15Ju21) that he’s dropping a new book, “The Listening Party“, all about the 100 best moments from the Twitter initiative.
“Throughout 2020 and into 2021, these get-togethers began to feel like an important part of our pop-cultural life. With no gigs to attend; no pubs in which to gather; schedules obliterated, the Listening Parties extended an invitation to anyone with an internet connection,” British journalist Pete Paphides, who wrote the foreword to the book, said in a statement.
Royalties from book sales will benefit the Save Our Venues campaign to help smaller music venues forced to close down during the coronavirus lockdowns survive.
“The Listening Party” is due for release in September (21).
During the installment dedicated to 2020’s “McCartney III”, The Beatles star chimed in on Twitter, “The great thing for me about this album is that I didn’t know I was actually making an album and it all started with this track really as I was making a bit of music for a film project.”
In another installment focusing on Iron Maiden‘s 1984 “Powerslave”, the band explained the creative process of making their classic LP, “We pretty much did one backing track a day as a band, then went in individually to record overdubs.”
