Look what you made her do, Senate Republicans.

Taylor Swift launched a petition urging Sen. Lamar Alexander (R-Tenn.) to vote for the Equality Act, which would add gender identity and sexual orientation as protected classes under the federal Civil Rights Act.

“Politicians need votes to stay in office,” the superstar singer tweeted to her 83.4 million followers Saturday. “Pressure from massive amounts of people is a major way to push politicians toward positive change.”

She directed them to her Change.org petition, which had nearly 40,000 signatures as of Saturday morning.

The Equality Act, which passed the House of Representatives on May 17. It has not yet been scheduled for a vote in the Senate.

It’s not the first time Swift has had bad blood with Republicans in her home state.

Last year, she endorsed Phil Bredesen, the Democrat who ran for an open US senate seat. He lost to Republican Marsha Blackburn.
