Rose Ayling-Ellis was seen swapping her winning partner Giovanni Pernice for another dancing during rehearsals for the Strictly Come Dancing tour.

EastEnders actress Rose, 27, won the hearts of Strictly winners and the Glitterball trophy in the latest series of the BBC programme.

Despite her success with Italian dancer Giovanni, 31, Rose was spotted dancing with another partner ahead of the launch of the tour on Thursday 20 January.

In a clip, posted to Janette Manrara's Instagram story, she can be seen dancing with runner-up and Great British Bake Off star John Waite.

As Janette, 38, films the dancers in action alongside others rehearsing, she asks from behind the camera: "What is actually happening?"

"The couples have all gone mad," she proclaimed as she panned the camera around to show Max George dancing with Maisie Smith and Tilly Ramsay hand in hand with Rhys Stephenson.

"They've all swapped around," Janette added. "It's the craziest partner swap ever!"

She then began judging their moves as she told TV presenter Rhys: "Oh Rhys what a lift! Oh John as well!"

It comes as Rose revealed her plans to use her fame for good, as she is now backing a bill to make British Sign Language an official language in England.

She told Big Issue: "I’m backing it because this is my language. The fact that my country doesn’t see it that way is really sad and means we don’t get the respect we deserve and the language deserves.

"BSL is not an official language, legally, in this country. Which is outrageous. Because it is such a beautiful, rich language with its own structure, its own grammar, its own slang. It’s even got accents.

"It’s about having protection for the language. There’s such a long history of signing. We have come such a long way – in the olden days, at schools for deaf children, they would make them sit on their hands or whip them for signing."

She added: "There are so many traumas in our history but also such a rich history. If it becomes an official language, which we’ve been fighting for all these years, it will be so emotional for us. Because of the massive interest in BSL recently, a lot of people don’t realise how much of a fight the deaf community have had."

Rose also opened up on her pride at being someone the deaf community can look up to in the public eye.

"I came from the hearing world. People who grew up in the deaf world have role models but they are not so public," she added. "So I’m so glad deaf children now have somebody to look up to – I just can’t believe it’s me.

"I see videos of little girls dancing and looking at me on the telly. Some of them have started wearing their hair up to show off their hearing aids and they have kids at school asking what is the sign for this? So it suddenly became quite cool to be deaf. And I love that for children. Cool to be deaf? Amazing!"
