Former BBC Breakfast presenter Steph McGovern, 38, was one of many who paid a touching tribute to Jack Charlton, the England World Cup legend, who died at the age of 85. However, after expressing her deepest condolences to the football icon, the Channel 4 presenter confronted her “embarrassing” mistake but added that it made her look “human”.

After the news of Jack Charlton’s death was announced on Friday, many went on to share heartfelt tributes to the late footballer.
Steph shared a picture of herself and Jack and his wife Pat and recalled the memory as she wrote to her 403,000 Twitter followers: “RIP Jack. Had the pleasure of sitting with him and his lovely wife Pat at a Boro match.
“The thing that struck me was there gorgeous relationship. #RIPJackCharlton.”
Steph noticed her spelling mistake shortly after sharing her thoughts online as she wrote in an additional tweet: “Whoops typo…. *their.*”

However, despite Steph’s efforts of addressing her mistake, many fans continued to point out her typo throughout the evening.
One replied: “Love you @stephbreakfast but man you have a typo #their.”
Once Steph saw their response, she responded and revealed her mistake showed that she was “human”.
The presenter responded: “I know, embarrassing,” which was followed by a woman facepalming emoji.
Steph continued: “I corrected it (see tweet underneath) as soon as I spotted.
The mother-of-one went on to say: “Just didn’t want to delete tweet and write again, important I show I’m human and make mistakes too. #typo.”
Another follower then added: “Typos give tweets character I find,” which was accompanied with a winking face emoji.
One person also commented: “Their, Steph. #grammarpolice. Love the sentiment though. I met him a couple of times and a lovely, humble gentleman.”

Steph rushed to respond: “Yes, spotted that. Corrected It underneath. #whoops.”
It comes after Steph’s former BBC colleague Dan Walker said a few words about the late legend and said he is “still making an impact” after his passing.
The BBC Sport presenter shared one “beautiful” moment of the late star and said he couldn’t stop watching the video on Twitter last night.
Dan shared a clip of the time the football sensation paid a tribute to his brother Bobby Charlton after the latter won the Sports Personality of The Year award.

Dan wrote to his 666,000 Twitter followers: “This clip of Jack Charlton paying tribute to his brother Bobby at Sports Personality of The Year… and then Bobby’s bowed head in response… is beautiful.”
The star decided to retweet the video again later on in the evening as he added: “Can’t stop watching this & have just seen a lovely message from someone saying they reached out to their family after seeing it today.
“That night at SPOTY came after a family fall out. Big Jack, still making an impact.”
He concluded: “Two brothers who won the World Cup… what a story.”
