Strictly Come Dancing head judge Shirley Ballas stole the show on the first night of the Strictly Live Tour and declared: “I’m back at my best.”

The 59-year-old head judge, who had breast implants removed amid cancer fears in October, spoke of her joy at being back on stage.

After performing a dazzling Latin mega-mix with backing dancers Jake Leigh and Joshua Keefe, she said: “It really is wonderful to be dancing again after my operation. It has taken a lot of recovery.”

Ballas, who is dating Daniel Taylor, 47, said: I’m excited to get out on that dancefloor and put on a great show for all the Strictly fans. I love being on tour – we all had so much fun last year.”

Her performance earned her a standing ovation at the Arena Birmingham on Thursday night.

She took to the stage alongside fellow judges Craig Revel Horwood, 55, and Bruno Tonioli, 64, in a show hosted by the 2018 winner, Stacey Dooley, 32.

This year’s winner, Emmerdale legend Kelvin Fletcher, 36, danced with Janette Manrara instead of series partner Oti Mabuse.

The tour runs until February 9, taking in Manchester, Glasgow, Aberdeen, Nottingham, Leeds, Belfast and London's O2.

The cast definitely seem like they have had a good time as reports emerged of their boozy antics after the opening night.
