Sarah Jessica Parker has shared a scathing post to deny having a ‘screaming match’ with her husband Matthew Broderick on a recent trip to London.
The Sex And The City actress flew over to the UK earlier this month to spend time with Matthew, 57, while he starred in the West End play The Starry Messenger, along with their children James, Marion and Tabitha.
However, Sarah’s getaway was mired by reports of a bitter row she allegedly had with Matthew, which she says is simply not true.
After being contacted about a report by The National Enquirer, Sarah wrote on Instagram: ‘Just like clockwork. Over a decade of the same untrue, disgraceful nonsense.’
The Divorced star then went on to claim how the reports were an effort to ‘fabricate and undermine this time a blissful 4 days with my husband in London’.
She added: ‘There was no “screaming match” as alleged in a restaurant or on the street, nor was there a confrontation as alleged about his time in London. My children and I are enormously proud of the work he is doing.’
Proud of her marriage with Matthew, Sarah then asked: ‘Why not celebrate a marriage of 22 years and relationship of 27 years?
‘Because, despite your endless harassment and wasted ink, we are nearing 3 decades of love, commitment, respect, family and home [sic].’
Sarah, 54, and Matthew are certainly one of Hollywood’s most sustainable couples with their relationship lasting almost 30 years. The couple married in 1997 after being introduced by her brother while they all performed at the Naked Angels Theatre company.
They will celebrate their 22nd wedding anniversary on 19 May.
Opening up about their long-lasting marriage, which is a rarity in Hollywood, Sarah told People in February 2018: ‘I think marriage has a lot of vitality,” she says. “If you’re fortunate, it’s like this dazzling organism.’
She added of their relationship over the years: ‘I feel like it changes. It seems so silly, but I think you’re very lucky if you like the person.
‘I still just really like him. I’m sure I annoy him and he annoys me, but I literally learn about him every day. I’m like, ‘You’re doing what? You’re reading what?’
On the bright side, Sarah’s trip to London was worth it as she stumbled upon what is now her favourite shop – a Timpson’s in Kensington High Street.
Yes, the key-cutting shop.
