Radio sensation, James Whale, has announced he is engaged just three years after his beloved wife passed away at the age of 67.

However, the 70 year old talkRADIO host has refused to share the name of the mystery lady with fans just yet leaving curious fans to speculate on who it could be after finding love again.

His late wife, Melinda, passed away in May 2018 from stage four lung cancer after nearly 50 years of marriage and shared two children together, James and Peter.

The presenter, who was evicted from the Big Brother house in 2016 alongside ex TOWIE star Lewis Bloor, announced the exciting news to his 76,000 followers on Twitter on Saturday to celebrate his birthday.

He wrote: “Breaking news over this weekend of my birthday I have to announce that I have become engaged – to whom I will reveal later!”

The Surrey native went on to fuel the speculation of his bride-to-be after he replied to a fan's tweet hours later.

His fan begged: “Please let it be Ash. I’ve listened to you two for years & it would be sooooo romantic!

“You’re just made for each other & I bet Melinda (looking down) would approve!” along with a love heart emoji, a pair of hands praying emoji and a finger’s crossed emoji.

He replied to the post with: “We have been together a long time,” leading fans to suspect he could be hinting it may be his talkRADIO co-host Ash Gould.

The Celebrity Big Brother contestant, who caused quite a stir within the Big Brother house, revealed last year that he is also battling cancer 20 years after having his kidney removed due to a malignant tumour.

The radio DJ said he had been told his cancer is in his remaining kidney as well as his spine, brain and lungs.

In an interview with The Sun, James shared his diagnosis after admitting he had been feeling unwell for over a year.

He said: “This little b*****d has spread. It’s in my remaining kidney. I’ve got a couple of small lesions in my lungs. I’ve got it in my spine. I’ve got it in my brain.”

Despite his upsetting diagnosis, James is determined to keep working as a presenter with plans for a wedding in sight.

James is currently on immunotherapy and hormone replacement treatment with the hopes of avoiding chemotherapy.

He added that he has “no intention of dying right at this particular moment. I am pretty strong. I’m determined not to allow this to really undermine me.

“I am coming up to being the oldest working man on British radio and I have continually been on air since I was 24.”

Now, the presenter has happier things to look forward to, and shared his positive outlook on Good Morning Britain earlier this year.

James told viewers he “just had to deal” with his diagnosis after he worked through the horribly news, admitting he had considered going to Switzerland where assisted dying is legal.

He said: “I’m feeling really well since I started the treatment, I don’t want any of those sad voiced I probably look and sound like I would normally.

“You don’t know what life has to throw at you. So, it’s not a question of being brave by the way.

“It’s just a question of, in all our lives, we’re all going to get to a stage where our health isn’t going to be what it is when we are at our peak performance time. You just have to deal with it. There’s nothing else you can do.”
