Pierce Brosnan has proven he's still totally smitten with his wife, Keely Shaye Smith, after 20 years of marriage.

The former James Bond star took to social media on Tuesday to gush about his wife on her 58th birthday.

Pierce, 68, posted a photo of his wife in a purple swimsuit making coconut water as he described her as 'beautiful' and 'luscious'.

In a caption which showed just how devoted he is to Keely, Pierce said: "My beautiful luscious love Keely on her 58th trip around the sun yesterday… apres swim, making coconut water. Happiest of birthdays it was!"

Plenty of the couple's pals couldn't get enough of Pierce's online display of affection, as Breaking Bad star Aaron Paul commented: "Love you two so much."

Chelsea Handler added: "Happy birthday, Keely! You are beautiful!" and Rita Wilson added: "Happy Birthday sweet Keely. We will have to have a 'nutty Keely.'"

Pierce and Keely tied the knot back in 2001 and have two children together, Dylan, 24, and Paris, 20.

Keeley is Pierce's second wife as he was previously married to Australian actress Cassandra Harris.

Cassandra worked with Roger Moore in the Bond film For Your Eyes Only and when the movie came out in 1981, she was married to Pierce.

However she died from ovarian cancer in 1991 aged just 43. In 2013, their daughter Charlotte also died from cancer.

Pierce starred in four James Bond films: Goldeneye, Tomorrow Never Dies, Die Another Day and The World Is Not Enough.

He recently admitted he has "no regrets" about his exit from the films.

He said last year: "I do not let regret come into my world…It just leads to more misery and more regrets.

"Bond is the gift that keeps giving and has allowed me to have a wonderful career. Once you're branded as a Bond, it's with you forever, so you better make peace with it and understand that when you walk through those doors and pick up the mantle of playing James Bond."

Pierce's most recent role is in the new Cinderella film, starring alongside Camila Cabello and Minnie Driver.

Back in July it was revealed he will star in The Out-Laws, teaming up with Adam Devine in the Netflix film which will be directed by Tyler Spindel.

The movie will tell the story of bank manager Owen Browning, played by Devine, who suspects his future in-laws of holding up a bank on his wedding week.
