He stays notoriously tight-lipped when it comes to his relationship with ex-wife Katie Price.
But 48 year old Peter Andre was forced to defend himself last week when she accused him of selling stories about her to the press.
And a source has told OK! that Pete, who shares Junior, 16, and Princess, 14, with Katie, 43, spoke out because he’s sick of getting caught up in her drama.
“Pete doesn’t want to be dragged into Katie’s circus because he’s not a part of it,” our source revealed.
“Once in a while he feels he needs to put it out there that’s it’s not him and he doesn’t do those sort of things. It’s a circus and it’s not something he wants to be involved in.”
Katie slammed Pete and her third ex-husband, Kieran Hayler, who is dad to her children, son Jett, eight, and daughter Bunny, seven, as she claimed they had both “contributed to the state of my mental health”.
After it emerged that Pete and Kieran, 34, were said to be “livid” following reports Katie was set to marry fiancé Carl Woods in Las Vegas without their knowledge, she said, “I’m asking you both kindly to leave me alone now and stop making money from my name and using it for headlines involving our kids. Using kids as a pawn is not fair.”
Pete later responded, writing on Instagram, “I don’t do stories. It’s not my bag. I never get involved. Just thought I’d let anyone interested know. Nice try though.”
While it’s rare for the singer to make such a public statement, our source adds that he wanted to clear his name.
“The only reason he felt he needed to put something out there is because he’s tired and he doesn’t want seeds being put into people’s minds that it’s other people’s fault,” they said. “It’s nothing to do with anyone else.”
And it seems that Pete isn’t the only one who is feeling the strain, as last week Kieran refused to speak about his ex, admitting in an interview, “I’m done with it.”
Katie and businessman Carl, 32, appeared to have been busy planning their nuptials in Vegas after pictures showed them picking up a marriage licence. She was also spotted shopping for a wedding dress and using a suitcase bearing the name “Katie Woods”.
However, the couple later revealed they weren’t there to tie the knot, and were instead filming for Katie’s YouTube channel.
“We was out filming some YouTube content and documenting how easy it would be to get married in Vegas,” Katie wrote.
While Carl said, “I can confirm that @KatiePrice and I are not getting married in Vegas and never was. However, a $102 marriage license caused pure carnage and got the media all excited and s**t.”
The couple landed back in the UK last week and were pictured arriving at Carl’s home in Essex.
Their US trip followed Katie’s four weeks in The Priory, where she was sent after pleading guilty to drink-driving. She crashed her car near her home in Horsham, West Sussex, in September.
As she awaits sentencing in December, she returned to The Priory and shared a picture of the private facility on Instagram Stories, writing alongside it, “Well needed session today.”
