In the latest episode of ‘The View’, the daughter of John McCain takes the time to blast the Fox News host over a comment she made about her plus-sized body years ago.
AceShowbiz -Being fat-shamed is not something that can be easily forgotten, and Meghan McCain is the perfectly example of it. The daughter of John McCain took the time to call out Fox News host Laura Ingraham in the Monday, September 16 episode of “The View” for the comment she made about her plus-sized body years ago.
During the episode, the panel was discussing a recent monologue by Bill Maher where he defended fat-shaming. Both Meghan and Whoopi Goldberg disagreed with his comment, and the former seized this opportunity to open up about the time when Laura mocked her for being fat. “I just wanna say, if I wasn’t fat-shamed, I wouldn’t have a career,” she said. “Laura Ingraham said I was too plus-sized to be on TV. Shoutout Laura, I’m on ‘The View’ and you’re not!”
Meghan continued, “It literally sparked so much outrage because people don’t like it when you’re talking about women’s weight.” Later, she opened up that Laura wasn’t the only one who fat-shamed her because she received such comments almost every day on social media. “I think we need to have compassion to people who are struggling in life in general and so much about obesity in this country is about poverty and access to health care. I think that was left out of it.”
Laura made controversy back in March 2009 when she ridiculed Meghan over her appearance on “The Rachel Maddow Show” to bemoan extreme partisanship. Using a stereotypical Valley Girl-like voice to mock the blonde columnist, Laura said during her radio show, “I was really hoping that I was going to get that role in the ‘Real World’, but then I realized that, well, they don’t like plus-sized models. They only like the women who look a certain way.”
Her comment at the time immediately sparked backlash, with Meghan hitting back at her, “Kiss my fat a**.”
