Maura Higginshas revealed her financial woes, saying she struggled to keep a roof over her head before appearing on Love Island last year.
The TV star, 29, reflected on an “incredible” 2019 after rising to fame on the ITV2 dating show, but stunned fans with her honest confession.
Taking to Instagram, the former grid girl, who is set to appear on Dancing On Ice this year, urged fans to consider that social media “isn’t real” as she thanked them for their support.

She wrote: “(Bit late) Wishing everyone a very happy & healthy new year! I honestly can’t put into words how incredible my 2019 has been.
“To think this time last year I was so unhappy and struggling to keep a roof over my head…you can achieve anything you put your mind too!!
“A lot of you would have looked at my social media and thought wow ‘she has an incredible life’ to all of the young girls reading this, please remember Instagram is NOT real life!

“We can all filter, photoshop, edit etc (guilty) but we never know what is actually going on in a person’s life, so for 2020 please remember to be kind.”
She finished with: “I am so incredibly grateful for all of the support I have been given in the last few months… 2020 is going to be even bigger. I love you all.”
Since appearing on the show, Curtis Pritchard’s girlfriend has gone on to become the face of lingerie brand Ann Summers and has appeared in countless fashion campaigns, including one with Boohoo.

She has also appeared on ITV’s Celebrity Juice before getting her skates on to appear on Dancing On Ice.
Meanwhile, Maura’s beau opened up on their busy schedules, with Curtis saying they’re struggling to see each other.
He told PA: "We have been all over the place right now, she will either try and come to me or I will try and come to her because she's in Dancing On Ice and I've been boxing, so we are just scattered everywhere.
"We are not struggling with the relationship or anything like that, we are in a great place, but time management is a crucial thing."
