Whether it’s their incredible evening outfits to theirstunning hair and make-up looks, theLove Island contestants are known for looking glamorous when walking around the villa.
But now, one former Love Islander has opened up about the realities of looking glam in the villa – and it’s a lot less lavish than you may think.
Giventhe high number of arrivals and shock departures on the show, it’s no secret that the villa can get a little busy at times, with Amy Day revealing that the high number of Islanders can cause one or two problems when it comes to getting ready.
Speaking exclusively to OK!, the 2021 Casa Amor bombshell revealed how she was left battling it out to gain use of one of two showers after she and 17 other contestants secured a place in the main villa.
“The worst part about getting ready was showering because there were 18 of us and only two showers,” she said. “The girls used the indoor shower and most of the boys used the one outdoors.”
As a result of the numbers involved, the TV personality ended up altering her daily routine so that she could accommodate getting a place in the highly sought after queue.
She said: “It was so hard to get a slot in the queue that I ended up ditching my workouts in order to wash – if I didn’t grab a spot quickly, I’d never be clean.
“It was a Catch 22 situation and I had to choose whether I wanted a shower and no workout or to workout and not have a shower. Luckily everyone was pretty generous when it came to allocating slots and not taking too long once they were in there.”
This isn’t the first time that an ex-Islander has opened up about the villa’s behind the scenes secrets. In fact, 2022 contestantCoco Lodge explained how she was able to request specific beauty products to be brought in for her to use on demand.
“Once you’re in there you can request anything you want anyway, so like if you needed a product you could go and ask for it and then like in a few days it would be there with you,” she told podcast host Scott McGlynn.
She added: “I was stressing because I’d broken my eyebrow pencil in there and I was like ‘you don’t understand’… and I just told them and then a day later they had the exact eyebrow pencil that I needed.”
