In an era where red carpets are ruled by naked dresses and gowns with so many cutouts they are basically shredded, it may seem like anything remotely covered-up would be overlooked — however, Kaia Gerber's modest evening dress, surprisingly, had the opposite effect.

Debunking the idea that modest means boring, the supermodel stepped out to host the LA Art Show opening night premiere party on Wednesday night, wearing an elegant black sequined gown by Celine that was eye-catching all on its own. The midi-length dress featured a white sparkly collar and cuffs, gold buttons down the front of the demure neckline, and a pleated skirt. On the bottom, she accessorized with strappy black heels, and on top, a pair of silver drop earrings were complemented by a deep side part and Old Hollywood waves.

Her makeup (bold brows, smoky eyes, and nude lips) was subtle yet made a statement.

The entire look was a welcome change of pace from the overtly sexy outfits typically spotted on the red carpet. Though, this isn't the first time Kaia has practiced restraint while getting dressed for a big event. At last year's Met Gala, she channeled 1981 Bianca Jagger in a glamorous Oscar de la Renta gown with a voluminous long skirt, and weeks later, she attended the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures Opening Gala, wearing a champagne Celine gown with a hemline that, again, hit the floor.
