Martin Lewis, 49, gave fans a rare insight into his relationship with his wife, fellow broadcaster Lara Lewington. The founder of MoneySavingExpert.com confessed he feared he might get in trouble with her after her appearance on Steph McGovern’s show, Steph’s Packed Lunch today.

In a tweet sent earlier today, Martin explained that he is usually not allowed to watch his wife’s TV appearances.

However, he might have broken that rule today as he tuned into the show.

In view of his 1.2 million followers, Martin tweeted: “I’m going to be in trouble.

“Mrs MSE is doing a slot on Steph’s packed lunch today – she usually tells me that I’m not allowed to watch her (Mrs mse not Steph), however she forgot to expressly prohibit it today, so I’ve turned it on!”

Steph’s Packed Lunch’s official Twitter account was quick to spot the confession and respond to the tweet.

It simply wrote: “Hi Martin!” Alongside a waving hand emoji.

Martin’s remark also sparked a number of replies from amused fans.

Ladyblues666 wrote: “So, you are exploiting a loophole?

“Shame on you, Martin. The couch it is then!”

StanEgerton suggested: “Just don’t tell anyone then Martin.”

ChorltonGill agreed: “Sshh! We won’t tell her if you don’t.”

AliJac7 said: “You’ll be alright, admitting it, in public,  here on Twitter, as long as she doesn’t have a Twitter account!…..

“Oops,  except she has.”

Lara announced her appearance on Steph’s Packed Lunch in a tweet sent earlier this morning.

She typed: “Up bright (actually dark) and early to head to Leeds with a suitcase, and a sack, full of gadgets.

“Look forward to seeing you @StephLunch!”

She later posted a picture of herself smiling at the camera and added: “All set to test some winter gadgets on @PackedLunchC4, with a spot of help from @denise_vanouten and @russell_kane.

“Yup, the geek’s hanging with the cool kids.”

Martin and Lara have been married since 2009.

The couple share a daughter who was born in 2012.
