Gemma Atkinson reflected on “sleeping with her best friend” as a youngster, weeks before the birth of her first child with Strictly Come Dancing pro Gorka Marquez. The actress and DJ shared an adorable unearthed snap of herself and her dog with her one million Instagram followers. The pregnant 34-year-old was seen cuddling up to the pooch as a little girl, with both tucked under the covers. She looked directly at the camera while sporting yellow and keeping a protective arm over her fluffy companion.

Gemma captioned it: “#tb Sleeping with my best friend back then, our first dog Fergie.”(sic)

“We were inseparable,” she continued. “I’ve genuinely all my life preferred dogs to people. Loyal, loving, fun, humble, happy are just a few of their traits…

“Seeing this makes me excited for baby Marquez to meet Norman & Ollie and see the bond they will have.”

The small screen favourite then signed off: “Just like me and Fergie had for 15 wonderful years.”

It was quickly liked by Gorka, as well as his co-star Nadiya Bychkova and former contestant Ruth Langsford.

She went on to respond to a number of comments, one of which read: “I’m sure it was Fergie that used to scare the s**t out of me.”

The amused star replied to her pal: “Yeh it was… the tiny little west that wanted to lick you to death and made you literally run down the street.”

Gemma’s love of animals comes as no shock to fans, especially after she used her two dogs to reveal her and Gorka’s huge news.

Back in February, the couple took to their respective social media pages to announce they were expecting.

Norman and Ollie were seen with small signs around their necks, which read: “Guess what… mum’s pregnant! We’re going to be big brothers.”

Gemma captioned it: “And what amazing big brothers they will be!

“Myself & Gorks are beyond excited and happy and feel incredibly blessed to be meeting our new family member later this year.”

She also wrote: “Baby Marquez!!! We love you loads already @gorka_marquez.”

Meanwhile, Gorka posted: “Thank you for the greatest gift in life. Myself and Gem are beyond thrilled to be welcoming our new family member later this year!

“Baby Marquez. Norm and Ollie can’t wait to start their big brother duties.”

Meanwhile, it comes just hours after Gemma Atkinson thanked supporters for their messages after revealing big career news.
