Emmy Awards 2019: Game Of Thrones’ Kit Harington looks healthy and happy as he steps out in style for first event since treatment for ‘alcohol and stress’

Earlier this year, he entered an exclusive Connecticut wellness facility, where he underwent treatment for stress and alcohol use.

And Kit Harington, 32, was the picture of health and happiness on Sunday, when he stepped out for the 2019 Primetime Emmy Awards — his first red carpet event since completing his treatment.

The Game Of Thrones star cut a dapper figure as he made his way down the carpet at Los Angeles’ Microsoft Theater in a classic black tuxedo.

Stepping out: Kit Harington attended the 2019 Primetime Emmy Awards, held at Los Angeles’ Miscrosoft Theater on Sunday evening

And while he was all smiles as he posed for event photographers, Kit kept a relatively low profile, skipping TV interviews to instead head straight into the venue.

He attended the event without his wife and Game Of Thrones co-star Rose Leslie, as she was busy working.

Kit is nominated for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series for his performance as Jon Snow in the recently-concluded ratings juggernaut Game Of Thrones.

Kit checked himself into rehab weeks before the Game Of Thrones series finale last on May 19.

After he checked out of the facility, a source told People: ‘Since Kit left the Connecticut wellness centre, he is back in London with Rose.

‘The two are enjoying the summer, spending time with family and friends. Kit seems well. And Rose seems happy that he is back in London,’ the source continued.

‘While he was in Connecticut, she was laying low. It seemed their focus was just getting Kit feeling better. And he does look better. Kit and Rose seem happy.’

Kit has been open about his struggles with his intense rise to fame during the nearly 10-year stretch of Game Of Thrones.

‘It was formative years for everyone,’ he told People in a separate interview. ‘I started at 22 and ended at 32 and those are amazing formative years. If you’re Peter Dinklage, you started at 35.

‘It defines that decade of your life, and that will probably the most bizarre decade of your life.’

The Privé-Swiss facility which Kit checked into, costs more than $120,000 a month and teaches its clients how to deal with stress and negative emotions.

His publicist said: ‘Kit has decided to utilise this break in his schedule as an opportunity to spend some time at a wellness retreat to work on some personal issues.’

At the time, a source revealed that Kit was at the facility ‘predominantly for stress and exhaustion and also alcohol’.

The source added: ‘His wife Rose is being extremely supportive. Everyone close to him really wanted him to get some rest. Right now, he just needs peace and quiet.’

This year’s ceremony will be co-hosted by Saturday Night Live’s Colin Jost and Michael Che.

The network has a long tradition of picking variety show hosts from within its family.

Conan O’Brien hosted the Primetime Emmy Awards back in 2002 and 2006, while SNL alums and late-night hosts Jimmy Fallon and Seth Meyers hosted in 2010 and 2014 respectively.

It’s a particularly exciting year for Netflix as they finally dethroned HBO by earning the most Emmy nominations scoring 112 nods, beating HBO’s 108.

It is the first time in 18 years that HBO did not come out on top.

However, Game Of Thrones still was the most nominated show with 22 nominations. HBO’s other hit, Westworld scored 21 nominations, as did NBC’s Saturday Night Live.

Game of Thrones and Westworld will fight it out with Hulu’s The Handmaid’s Tale for Best Drama, while Curb Your Enthusiasm, Barry and Silicon Valley represent HBO against Netflix’s Glow and Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt and Amazon’s The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel in the Best Comedy category.

NBC’s monster hit This Is Us scored eight nominations including Best Actor in a Drama Series nods for both Milo Ventimiglia and Sterling K Brown.

Hulu’s The Handmaid’s Tale scored a whopping 20 nominations including Best Supporting Actress nominations for Yvonne Strahovski and Alexis Bledel, and Best Actress for Elisabeth Moss.

This year’s nominees who are set to present include Millie Bobby Brown, Rachel Brosnahan, Sandra Oh, Alec Baldwin and Kate McKinnon.

Other stars from the big and small screen who will be presenting include Michael Douglas, Tina Fey, Taraji P. Hensen, Tracy Morgan, Bob Odenkirk, and Constance Wu.
