Well, you can’t say Taylor Swift‘s fans aren’t loyal — but if they’re not careful they’re going to get their girl into trouble!

The Swifties came out in force on Thursday after a Chrissy Teigen tweet set some alarm bells ringing. No, the Chrissy’s Court star didn’t mention Tay by name — but that didn’t stop followers from reading her Twitter musing as a shot at the queen.

So, what the heck did she say??

Here’s what Chrissy tweeted:

“Is cutting your nose off to spite your face a sagittarius thing or just a dumb idiot thing I can’t stop wanting to do”

Pretty general sentiment, right? You have to be a pretty hardcore stan to assume it’s about anyone other than Chrissy herself, which is how we read it. But here’s why they did…

First, there are the lyrics she could be alluding to; in the Grammy-winner’s 2019 track The Archer, Taylor sings:

“And I cut off my nose just to spite my face / Then I hate my reflection for years and years”

That song is all about the 30-year-old’s struggles with relationships — and friendships. And if the title The Archer didn’t clue you in, yep — Taylor is also a Sagittarius; her birthday is on December 13.

If you have Taylor on the brain, that’s suddenly two possible references. Add in the fact Chrissy and John Legend are good friends with Kanye and Kim Kardashian West? We mean, we all know that feud is red hot right now thanks to the leaked full audio of that infamous call about the lyrics to Famous. You can understand how Swifties might have their guard up.

However, Chrissy saw the controversy starting to bubble up and decided to nip that situation right in the bud! She wrote:

“Not okay with the amount of people who think this line was created by Taylor Swift. I am not talking about Taylor Swift, whose music I love but did not exist in the 12th century”

Ha! No, Taylor didn’t craft the adage of “cutting off your nose to spite your face” — it’s something people have been using for generations.

As for the Sagittarius line? Well, like we said, the tweet was clearly about Chrissy. And yep, that’s her astrological sign, too — her birthday is on November 30.

And yes, the momma of two is friends with Kim, but she’s on #TeamTaylor, too! Just last Summer, she was one of the first to jump to the Reputation singer’s defense when Kid Rock disgustingly went after her on Twitter.

So no, there’s no bad blood between these two. And Taylor fans should be careful they don’t accidentally start a new feud! That would be, um… hmm, if only we had a good metaphor for a self-destructive overreaction…
