Bruce Willis' daughter, Tallulah, has shared an update on her dad's heartbreaking battle with dementia.

Tallulah 29, who is the youngest child of the Die Hard actor and his ex-wife Demi Moore, appeared on The Drew Barrymore show on Wednesday as she opened up about his dementia diagnosis.

She explained how life had changed for the family but lovingly said: "He is the same, which I think in this regard I’ve learned is the best thing you can ask for."

She continued: "I see love when I’m with him, and it’s my dad and he loves me, which is really special."

It was in February 2023 that Bruce’s family announced in a statement that he had been diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia (FTD) at the age of 67 – an uncommon form of dementia that causes problems with behaviour, personality and language.

Bruce officially retired from acting last year after his family revealed he had been diagnosed with the brain condition aphasia, which causes the patient's language abilities to deteriorate. But in February they shared the devastating news that his illness had "progressed" and he had been diagnosed with dementia.

The statement read: "Bruce has always found joy in life – and has helped everyone he knows to do the same.

"It has meant the world to see that sense of care echoed back to him and to all of us. We have been so moved by the love you have all shared for our dear husband, father, and friend during this difficult time."

They also said: "Your continued compassion, understanding, and respect will enable us to help Bruce live as full a life as possible."

Tallulah also shared with Drew that her dad "has a very aggressive cognitive disease, a form of dementia that’s very rare."

She confessed that the family chose "to be so open" about his health struggle because raising awareness was crucial for them.

She said: "Well, I think it’s twofold. On one hand, it’s who we are as a family, but also, it’s really important for us to spread awareness."

The 29 year old admitted they initially "had no idea" about the complexities of the condition before Bruce got his diagnosis. Tallulah added: "If we can take something that we’re struggling with as a family to help other people, to turn it around to make something beautiful about it, that’s really special for us."

She continued: "And part of what’s been a really beautiful way for me to heal through this is becoming like an archeologist to my dad’s world, to his little trinkets and doo-dahs."

Tallulah is one of Bruce's five daughters, with him sharing her older sisters Rumer, 35, and Scout, 32, with Demi. He is then dad to her two younger sisters Mabel, 11, and Evelyn, 9 with current wife Emma Heming Willis.
