Beyoncé Knowles is one of the music industry’s biggest celebrities, a woman known for her dedication to social causes as well as her ability to top the charts. She rose to fame as a member of Destiny’s Child, but after she broke out to become a solo artist in 2006, her star only continued to rise.
These days, Beyoncé‘s net worth is truly insane, thanks to her music ventures as well as her stakes in several exciting business investments — including one endorsement deal that she signed in 2012 that has helped to make her fabulously wealthy.
How did Beyoncé Knowles become a star?
Born in 1981, Beyoncé got involved with music at an early age. By the age of seven, she was active in singing and dancing lessons, and when she was 10 years old, she was already performing with her school friends, impressing teachers, and other peers.
In the early ’90s, Knowles joined forces with several other talented young girls, Kelly Rowland and LaTavia Roberson, and together, they formed the girl group Destiny’s Child. In short order, Destiny’s Child became one of the world’s bestselling girl groups, cranking out hits such as “Say My Name” and “Jumpin’ Jumpin.’”
The critics loved them, and fans adored their unique style. At the peak of their fame, the group disbanded, with many speculating that it was so that Knowles could work on other projects.
Of course, Beyoncé went on to eclipse the group’s fame, blazing a trail for women in entertainment. In addition to her work in music, Knowles has become a movie star — and her business ventures have become legendary.
Beyoncé partnered with Pepsi
By 2012, Beyoncé was one of the world’s biggest stars. Although she was in the headlines daily, Beyoncé managed to retain a sense of privacy in her personal life, and above all, always kept her public image classy.
An advertiser’s dream, Beyoncé finally partnered with a powerhouse brand in 2012. That year, she signed a historic deal with the soft drink brand Pepsi. Reportedly, the deal was for a cool $50 million, and although Beyoncé had worked with the brand on and off since 2002, this new deal was much more extensive.
In the months that followed the deal being signed, Beyoncé appeared on limited-edition Pepsi cans and in special advertising campaigns. In return, Pepsi reportedly sponsored some of her projects, including promotion for her latest album.
As she stated at the time: “Pepsi embraces creativity and understands that artists evolve. As a businesswoman, this allows me to work with a lifestyle brand with no compromise and without sacrificing my creativity.”
Beyoncé’s other business ventures
Beyoncé has not spoken out on behalf of Pepsi in the past several years, but it seems as though her partnership with the brand has helped her to forge business relationships with other brands such as Ford and L’Oreal. It has almost certainly contributed to her incredible net worth, which today is reported to be around $500 million.
The star has also created her own businesses, launching a line of activewear called Ivy Park that has become very popular with fans around the world and partnering with her mother, Tina Knowles, to create a fashion line called House of Deréon.
These days, Beyoncé remains hard at work, not only on her music and entertainment pursuits but on her business projects as well — creating a legacy for her three children that will continue to be lucrative for years to come.
